Unit 1
Week: 4 Dates: September 3-6 Time: 4 Periods
Objectives:
1. Students will develop a biblical understanding of the gift or calling of poverty.
2. Students will analyze the lessons of the Ananias story and contrast the story with the model of giving found earlier in Acts.
3. Students will discuss the reference to Satan and the Church in Acts 5.
4. Students will compare the common, western attitude toward suffering with that of the biblical worldview regarding suffering.
September 3, Monday
Opener: Put valuables on desk and share. (5 min)
Submit martyr (5 min)
Read: Lk 12:33-34; 18:18-25 Should all Christians sell everything and give to the poor, or just some? (15 min)
Story of Francis and discussion on universality of call of poverty: Acts 4:34, Acts 12:12, 1 Tim 5:8. (15 min)
Homework, survey five people on the Luke passages by reading them the passages and asking them what they think. Get a feel for what others say and bring results tomorrow.
September 4, Tuesday
Opener. Share with someone the results of your survey. (5 min)
Read 5: 1-11. Act out. (20 min)
Make a list of lessons God wants us to learn from this story. (5 min)
Homework-begin in class. Make this story into a newspaper article. There should be a title, a summary, an interview, and a picture. This should be typed.
September 5, Wednesday
Opener: Anything you have learned or have a question about in the Bible.
Talk about what was written.
Satan and church-1st mentioned in Acts 5.
September 6, Thursday
1. Read Acts 5:12-42
2. Handout-Persecution and Joy.
3. Study for test on Acts 1-5 for Monday. Read the entire five chapters. And complete study sheet.
