Syllabus Week 3

Lesson: Acts-
Unit 1
Week: 3 Dates: August 27-31 Time: 5 Periods
Objectives:
1. Students will define what it means to have fellowship.
2. Students will explain the purpose of miracles.
3. Students will explain, by writing, the biblical perspective on civil authority.
August 27, Monday
Opener: What effect would the church have on your life and the world if it was like the Acts 2 church?
2. Analysis of Acts 2:42-47-Fellowship of believers.
3. Acts 3:1-10. Discussion of passage and miracles.
August 28, Tuesday
Opener: Have you (or someone close to you) ever experienced a miracle? What was your response to it? What is the purpose of miracles?
Peter’s response to the miracle. Acts 3:11-26.
Write a paragraph on what you can do to either: a) receive the Spirit of God, or b) respond to God’s Spirit as Peter did given your unique gifts and skills.
August 29, Wednesday
Opener: chalk talk. Silent. Questions you have (or you have been asked) about the Bible or Christianity?
Discussion of questions.
August 30, Thursday
1. If you were to proclaim the gospel to someone, what would you tell them-paragraph or bullets?
2. Acts 4: 1-12 (Observe and reflect)
August 31, Friday
Opener: OQ
Acts 4:13-31. Read and discuss.
Homework if not done in class. The role of governing authority. Acts 4:19. Bible study on civil authority: Proverbs 24:21; Jeremiah 29:7; Romans 13: 1-2; Matthew 22:21. Write a paragraph explaining the biblical perspective on civil authority based on these four scriptures. Due Monday.
